Choctaw Lake is a small but beautiful campground in Ackerman, MS with spacious sites that are shaded with most having views of the lake. The park is not big rig friendly and some sites may feel tight. However, all the sites are recently renovated with patios, tables, fire rings among mature trees and lawn. The scenery is beautiful, and the location is quiet, making it a peaceful camping experience. The lake is great for fishing with two piers and has a boat dock if you have one or you can just fish right off your site. The park has a playground for kids, boat launch and swimming area. There is a well-maintained walking trail around the lake, bike trails, and hiking trails. The bathhouse and restrooms were clean and a variety of flowers, insects, and wildlife abound.

Choctaw Lake Recreation Area offers a range of outdoor opportunities such as camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. Facilities include 18 campsites with utility hookups, 35 picnic sites, three picnic pavilions, swimming area, two bath houses with showers and flush toilets, two boat ramps, accessible fishing pier, and a 3-mile hiking trail. The campground is open seasonally and is a fee area. Users should make sure that they have correct currency before arriving at the recreation area.
