There are lots of picnic areas and open green space around the entrance, making it a great spot for school groups. The Petrified Forest is a fascinating 45-60 minute self-guided walk, and staying at the campground gives you a discount. The campground is dog friendly and super quiet, with friendly management. The grounds could use a bit more gravel to cut back on the mud, and the restrooms are small, but with full hookups, theyre not needed much.
