The South Abutment Recreation Area is a beautiful campground located in Northern Mississippi, with a big undeveloped lake perfect for kayaking, SUP, and fishing. The sites are large, paved, and spaced a decent distance apart, with full hookups, picnic tables, lantern hooks, fire pits, BBQ grills, and food prep tables. The restrooms and showers are clean and well-maintained, although the soap dispensers may be empty. There is no WiFi or camp host, and no gate guards or on-site staff. The campground is very peaceful, especially in the fall and winter, and is a great bargain at $12 per night with the Golden Access Pass. The only drawback is the 14 day limit. Some sites are not level outside the RV door, and the dumpsters are not covered, so animals may help themselves to the contents. All in all, this is a great spot for simple outdoor recreation, and is worth considering for a few days of rest and relaxation.
