Chewalla Campground is a great spot for a day trip or overnight stay. Located just off Highway 7 and 4, the campground is surrounded by beautiful trails, woods, waterfront, and boardwalks. The lake is perfect for fishing, and there is also a beach area. The sites are basic but nice, and are clearly marked electric/non electric on the reservation website. The campground also includes a picnic pavilion and playground, a partially covered bridge leading to an island, and a boat ramp and fishing pier. The camp host is friendly and keeps the area clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are not kept up, dirty, and have no lights in the showers. There is also some trash leftover from previous campers, and the fire pits are full of half-burnt garbage. Verizon Wi-Fi and phone service are available, and the town of Chewalla is nearby with plenty of things to do. The campground is great for day use, but the roads are a bit rough and the bunk house showers could use a good scrubbing/painting.
