Howard Stafford is a small, comfortable campground with less than 20 sites. It is conveniently located 30 minutes from Tupelo or Oxford, and is situated next to a big county park with a playground, boat ramp, fishing docks, and walking paths along the lake. Each site has a level concrete pad with 50/30 amp, water, sewer, picnic table, fire ring, and deck with fire pit and grill. The restroom/shower facility is locked and for use only by campers, although it could use some updating. The campground road is narrow, twisty, and in bad shape, so it may not be suitable for large rigs. The park is also home to an antique store, donut shop, and is a great halfway point to the Tanglefoot bike trail.

Howard Stafford Park is a city-owned and operated facility located within the city limits of Pontotoc, MS. The park offers beautiful lake views, recreational activities, and nearby access to Tanglefoot Trail (Rails to Trails) and downtown shopping and dining. Howard Stafford Park hosts several city-sponsored events throughout the year and is utilized often by school groups and extracurricular organizations because of the amenities offered within the park. The park features Howard Stafford Lake within the park boundaries, a splash pad, playground, fishing, boat dock and launch, basketball courts, bathrooms, pavilions, showers, cabins, and RV pads.
