Buccaneer State Park is a popular family campground, offering full hookups, a swimming pool, water park, and beach access across the street. It has been recently renovated after Hurricane Katrina and the facilities are all quite new. The sites are good size and level, though some are more difficult to get level on. The campground has some narrow roads and tight loops, and excess vehicles can make it difficult to maneuver large rigs. It is also quite busy, with a parade of golf carts and vehicles driving through the loops all day and night. The staff is unwelcoming and unhelpful, and the showers are unairconditioned. Visitors should also be aware of the low speed limit and the trains close to the campground.
