What others are saying about this campground
Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS is a family-friendly campground with full hookups, paved roads, and plenty of trees and shade. The park offers a wide range of activities for all ages, including a swimming pool and water slide, large playgrounds, disc golf, a game room, and a water park. Primitive camping is also available in a saltwater marsh. The campground sites are spacious, mostly level, and have full hookups, though the sewer connection can be tricky due to its recessed angle. There is a camp store onsite, and a nearby fishing company that sells fresh seafood. The campground is close to the Gulf of Mexico, with a beach across the street. The roads around the campground can be narrow and have low clearance railroad crossings, so caution is advised. The campground can get noisy due to freight trains passing close by and golf carts driving around late at night. There are also biting gnats, so bug spray is recommended. Prices are reasonable, averaging around $30 a night with hookups.

From The Campground

Buccaneer State Park is located on the beach in Waveland, MS, and is in a natural setting of large moss-draped oaks, marshlands, and the Gulf of Mexico. The park offers 206 premium campsites with full amenities, including sewer. It also features Buccaneer Bay, a 4.5-acre waterpark, Pirate's Alley Nature Trail, playground, Jackson's Ridge Disc Golf, activity building, camp-store, and Castaway Cove pool. The park is named after the French Buccaneer, Lafitte, who inhabited the old Pirate House located a short distance from what is now the park. The park site, also known as Jackson's Ridge, was used as a base of military operations by Andrew Jackson during the Battle of New Orleans. Jackson later returned to this area and built a house on land that is now Buccaneer State Park.
