GenieSummary
City of Canton Mississippi Park is a small campground located right on the Mississippi riverbank. The park has concrete pads at each site, but the approach is gravel and the site itself is grass. Most of the sites are full hookup or have just water and electric. There is a nice walking path from the campground towards the city along the Mississippi, but it is a dead end and you have to return to the campground. Although, if youre interested in watching the barges go through the nearby lock, it can be a fun activity. Just be aware that there is a train track just behind the park and the barges can be noisy. The park has a playground, but its more of a waterside parking lot than a proper park. It can feel disconcerting when there are lots of local vehicles driving through the park. For $30 a night, it would be nice to have a more secure feeling. The park has no internet or cable but OTA channels are available, and Verizon signal was good. It could use more trees for shade and privacy, but the picnic tables are nice. You call City Hall to make a reservation and pay cash or check on the honor system when you arrive. Theres a box for you to pay inside the park.
