This campground is a great spot for a stopover on a cross country trip. Located just off of Highway 60, it is a free dispersed camping area in a park that has 15 paved sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern hooks. The sites are level and some are double width. There are two vault toilets, one near the entrance and one at the day use/boat launch site. There is no electric, water, dumpster or garbage so you must pack it in and pack it out. The campground is surrounded by trees and there is a 1.3 mile paved trail along the lake and a dock. The lake is great for fishing, but no motorized boats are allowed. There is a gas station/truck stop nearby and the view of the stars is gorgeous. You may find some ticks in the vegetation so be sure to check yourself after spending time outdoors. There were only a few campers when we visited and it was relatively quiet, except for some drunken yahoos one night. There is no running water or showers, but it is a great spot for a peaceful, relaxing stay.
From The Campground

The lake offers a scenic trail for walking and picnicking facilities with pedestal grills. Boating is allowed on the lake with electric motors only. The recreation area offers amenities such as camping trailer, picnic tables, tent camping, toilets, and boat ramp. Some features and amenities are accessible.
