What others are saying
This campground is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway. It offers a variety of camping options, from double sites for larger families to a group camp area. The sites have a fire ring and picnic table, and are a mix of grass and light gravel. The campground hosts are very friendly and take good care of all the campsites. There is no running water for showers, but the bathroom houses are quite large and kept very clean. The St. Francis River is just a short walk away, and provides a great spot for fishing and whitewater kayaking. The trails around the area are great for hiking, and there are plenty of trees for shade. The campground is also just 10 minutes from a town in case you have forgotten something.

From The Campground
St. Francis Campground offers 43 non-electric sites, 16 non-electric sites, and 11 sites with electric hookups. Each site has a table, fire ring, lantern post, and a parking spur. Drinking water and vault toilets are conveniently located. No water hookups, showers, or dump station facilities. Some sites will accommodate RV/trailer combinations of up to 50 feet. The group site can accommodate up to 74 people and is back in the woods. There is a central picnic area with tables, grills, and fire rings. There is a loop around the central picnic area, and there are three established camping areas off of the outside of the loop so your group can spread out. The St. Francis River is a “pool-drop” type of river, with several stretches of swift water separated by placid calm pools, providing many fishing challenges. The campground offers two 1-mile hiking trails, Silver Mines Trail and Riverside Trail, both with beautiful bluffs of Precambrian granite and felsite rocks. The area is great for viewing eagles and other birds. There are two day use areas and the Take-out. Turkey Creek Day Use is a large lawn area next to the river. The grass is mowed regularly. There are two vault toilets. Each site has a pedestal grill. Riverside Day Use is located up on the embankment next to the St. Francis River with a short, sandy, trail leading down to the river. The sites at this area each have a pedestal grill and table, and there is a water spigot located here. The toilets for this area are in the campground area. Take-out has a picnic table, fire ring, vault toilets, a bench, and approximately 10 parking spots located here. This is a popular rest stop along the river for paddlers who put in at Millstream Gardens, before the river becomes unpassable.
