What others are saying
Trail of Tears State Park in Jackson, MO has large, spacious campsites that are mostly back-in and have level, paved pads. The sites have electric connections available, but they are limited to 15 and 30 amp only. The park has a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and lots of trees, and there are four excellent hiking trails to explore. The parks museum and visitors center are only open Thursday through Sunday in late October. While the campsites are located a distance from the visitors center, park rangers are helpful with directions and other information when you arrive. Trains can be heard throughout the day and night, and some campers find them to be a minor inconvenience, while others find them to be an issue. Overall, Trail of Tears State Park is a beautiful and historically significant location that provides a peaceful and relaxing camping experience.

From The Campground

Trail of Tears State Park is a historic park in Missouri that tells the story of the forced relocation of Cherokee Indians to Oklahoma in 1838 and 1839. The park offers shaded picnic sites, hiking and horse trails, fishing opportunities in both the Mississippi River and Lake Boutin, and majestic views of the Mississippi River and beyond. The park is also a great place for viewing migratory waterfowl.
