Graham Cave State Park is a great place to stop for a night or two while passing through. The campground is spacious and nicely spaced out, with plenty of room for even the largest of tents or RVs. The access road off the interstate may be a bit intimidating, but once youre on the state park property, youll be put at ease. With a boat launch, marked hiking trails, and a cool cave to explore, theres plenty to do here. The sites are semi-level and adequate for campers, but the pads are narrow and short, so larger RVs may need to park off to the side. The park staff is friendly and helpful, and the park is relatively quiet, except for some noise from the highway. The campground is also conveniently located close to the freeway, Hermann wine country, and the Graham Cave and Fern Ridge Trails. The only downside is the lack of bathroom facilities and the mosquitoes in the summer. All sites have red tags stating reservations are recommended, but not required.
From The Campground
Graham Cave State Park is a 386-acre park in Missouri that offers visitors a chance to walk through ancient history. The park includes the Graham Cave Glades Natural Area, where artifacts uncovered in Graham Cave reveal that people occupied the cave 8,000 to 10,000 years ago. Visitors can go into the mouth of Graham Cave, and interpretive exhibits along Graham Cave Trail detail the life researchers believe early inhabitants lived. Additional interpretive exhibits throughout the park explain the cultural and natural significance of the site. The park is a prime hiking location, and the campground is perfect for get-togethers in a quiet place. A boat ramp to the Loutre River provides access for boating and fishing.
