From The Campground
Trace Creek Section Campground is a primitive campground located in the Mark Twain National Forest. It is suitable for horse camping and offers 10 individual sites with parking spurs, fire rings, tables, and lantern posts. Hitching posts are provided for horses, and Hazel Creek is suitable for watering stock. The campground is part of the Trace Creek Section of the Ozark Trail, which is approximately 24 miles long and is open to foot, mountain bike, and equestrian traffic. The campground also features interpretive areas that showcase the Old Lead Belt, where much of the nation's lead ore was once mined.
