What others are saying
Cuivre River State Park is a great outdoor destination for a weekend getaway from St. Louis. With miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, a 55-acre lake for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, and reservable campsites, there is something for everyone. The campground is tucked away in the woods, with plenty of privacy and a lovely view of the surrounding woods. The sites are spaced out nicely so you dont feel like youre on top of each other, and some even have electric hookups. The park also has a playground, vault toilets, and clean showers. The roads to the campground are winding and hilly, so be prepared for a longer drive than the map indicates. There is a birds of prey presentation and a secret swimming hole worth the walk down the creek bed. Be sure to bring a screen house to keep away the gnats and mosquitos in the evenings. Raccoons may scavenge if you leave anything out at night, so be sure to keep your belongings safe. AT&T and T-Mobile have good enough service for remote work and some light videogames. With its many outdoor activities, Cuivre River State Park is a great place to escape the heat of the summer and see the colors of the fall.

From The Campground

Cuivre River State Park is one of the state’s largest and most rugged parks, offering a wilder, Ozarkian flavor to the otherwise predominately agricultural landscape of northern Missouri. The park is perfect whether you want to enjoy an afternoon visit or spend a few days. Both primitive and modern campsites are available, and Lake Lincoln offers swimming, boating and fishing. The park’s wild and natural areas provide hiking, backpacking, photography and wildlife observation activities. There is also an equestrian trail with a campground for overnight stays.
