Russell Gates Campground is a cozy and unique campground located on the Blackfoot River, east of the small and charming town of Ovando, Montana. It offers stunning views of the river and its surrounding greenery, as well as easy access to fishing and boating. The campground is equipped with pit toilets, water and garbage facilities, and plenty of shade trees. Unfortunately, it is also close to MT Hwy 200, so it can be quite noisy and full, especially on weekends. However, the ranger has mentioned that a new parking lot and boat launch is being built at one end of the park, which should help reduce the noise and traffic.

This site is 32 acres in size and 3,900 feet in elevation. There are grills/fire ring, picnic tables and trash cans available on the site. This fishing access site is part of the Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor that is 26 miles in length with 16 public access sites. Camping and access is limited to these DESIGNATED sites. There are 12 campsites, toilets, water (5/1 -9/30) and a hand boat launch available. There is a 7 day stay limit. Small fee being asked. Existing ADA Level: Moderate Accessibility.
