From The Campground
Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest offers dispersed camping in several areas including Castle Mountain Range, Elkhorn Mountains, Little Belt Mountains, Haymaker Dispersed Camping Area, Rocky Mountain Range, and Snowy Mountain Range. Each area has its own unique features and attractions. The Elkhorn Mountains are surrounded by the Divide Mountains and Boulder Batholith and are rich in minerals. The Little Belt Mountains are accessible by a well-distributed transportation network. The Rocky Mountain Range is designated wilderness and includes parts of the Scapegoat and Bob Marshall Wilderness areas. The Snowy Mountains are primarily in Fergus County and include both the Big and Little Snowy Mountain ranges. All areas have mandatory food storage requirements due to the presence of bears.
