Cromwell Dixon Campground is a small, no frills site located just outside of Helena, MT. The campground has 15 sites available for $15 per night. There are no hookups for RVs, but potable water taps and vault bathrooms are very clean. The campground has good separation between sites and is situated at a higher elevation, making for cooler summer evenings. Although moderate road noise can be heard at a distance, it is not too loud and dies down when it gets dark. The views are beautiful and the dark skies are perfect for stargazing at night. There are no trash receptacles, so visitors are reminded to pack in and pack out all waste. Overall, Cromwell Dixon Campground offers a peaceful and clean camping experience while being easily accessible from the highway.

From The Campground

Cromwell Dixon Campground is located in Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, approximately 15 miles west of Helena at MacDonald Pass off Highway 12. The campground is situated right on the Continental Divide, providing spectacular views of surrounding country encompassing meadows, timbered slopes, and far away mountains. Trailhead access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail is nearby. The campground offers 14 single sites and 1 double site for tent and camping trailer camping. Amenities include picnic tables, vaulted toilets, and potable water. The campground is open from May to September and fees are $15 per night for a single unit. The campground is operated by the Forest Service.
