GenieSummary
Doris Creek is a beautiful, clean campground located 10 miles from the west entrance of Glacier National Park. It is tucked in a cove of Hungry Horse Lake and offers lake access, vault toilets, and picnic tables. The sites are catered more towards RVs and campers than tents, and there is no running water, sewer, or electricity. Trash must be hauled out, but there are dump facilities at some of the service stations for a nominal fee. There is no cell phone coverage or telephone service, and the closest Verizon service is in the town of Hungry Horse. The views of the creek and reservoir are stunning, and the openness of the space allows for memorable reunions or annual get-togethers. It is the perfect spot for a quick camp fix, and a great spot to enjoy the night sky.
From The Campground
Doris Creek Campground is located on the west side of Hungry Horse Reservoir, high in the Rocky Mountains, west of the Continental Divide and just south of the Canadian border. The campground offers 10 overnight sites for tent and RV camping. Each is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. There is no water at this campground. Please bring your own drinking water. An accessible vault toilet is provided. Campground roads and parking spurs are gravel. Campground host is available at the Doris Boat Launch to answer any questions about the campground and surrounding area. The campground also offers first-come, first-serve sites as well. Boating is popular on the 27,750-acre reservoir, and a concrete boat ramp is accessible from within the campground. Swimming and fishing are also popular pastimes, and anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish, including cutthroat trout.
