GenieSummary

This campground is located on the Yellowstone River, near the town of Laurel, Montana, between Billings and Bozeman. It is a great base camp for scenic tours of the Beartooth and Pryor Mountain ranges. The campground is a good size with plenty of common areas and picnic spots, and is only about 3 minutes away from the nearest grocery store. There are several long pull-through sites that can accommodate big rigs, but all sites are dry camping with no electric, water, or dump hookups. There are fire pits and large cottonwood trees, but the pull-throughs are mostly in the sun. The scenery is marred a bit by an oil refinery nearby, but overall it is very nice. The park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the nightly rate is $10 for dry camping, $15 for electric only sites, and $20 for electric/water sites. There is a shower house, but it is not kept very clean. There are also some homeless individuals and families living in the campground, but they are friendly and not a problem. There are plenty of mosquitoes, and the campground is close to the freeway, so it can be noisy during the day. However, it is a great place to stay for an overnighter, and it is well worth the price.
