From The Campground

The Kootenai National Forest is home to the Engle Lake Trailhead, which leads to Engle Lake and Engle Peak. The trail climbs steeply to the wilderness boundary approximately one mile from the trailhead then follows a ridgeline towards Engle Peak and Engle Lake basin. Spectacular views of peaks within the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness and the Clark Fork Valley can be seen from the ridgeline. Several dispersed campsites are located around Engle Lake and small cutthroat trout are in the lake.
