Big Nelson Campground is a semi-remote, developed campground located on the shoreline of Cooper's Lake near Ovando, Montana. The campground offers shady rest and a beautiful view of the lake and adjacent mountains. The Bob Marshall and Scapegoat wildernesses are 7 miles away by trail. Big Nelson has tent camping only. No camping is allowed in the parking lot and no trailers are permitted. The campground is open year-round and is first come, first served. The fee is $10 per night with a $5 fee for each additional vehicle after two vehicles. There is no drinking water available, but a vault toilet is provided. Food storage orders are in place to protect campers and bears from unwanted encounters.
