Windmill State Recreation Area is an impeccably cared for area located in Central Nebraska. The pull-through sites may seem misleading but there is plenty of space available for campers. Golfers will enjoy Gibbon Valley View Golf Course, a great little 9 hole course in the hills north of town. There is excellent fishing and kayaking available in the lakes (ponds) at the park, and visitors can also enjoy a 1.5 mile hiking trail. The park offers online reservations and first come, first serve sites are available and clearly marked on their site map. Electric hookups are available for $10 and the roads and sites are in great condition. However, road noise can be an issue and may not make it a great fit for extended stays. Overall, Windmill State Recreation Area is a really nice place for RV camping and a very affordable option.

Windmill State Recreation Area is a beautiful park located in Gibbon, NE. The park features six lakes that offer great fishing opportunities for species such as largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, yellow perch, and common carp. The park also has a designated swimming beach, sand volleyball court, and a scenic 2-mile nature trail. Windmill State Recreation Area offers Electric Plus, Electric and Basic camping with 69 camping pads and 20 non-pad Basic campsites without electricity. The area offers drinking water, two modern restrooms, two shower houses, a dump and fill station, and laundry facilities.
