What others are saying about this campground
Bessey Recreation Complex Campground is a lovely and well-manicured campground nestled in the scenic Sandhills of Nebraska. The campsites are well-spaced, separated into three loops, and many of them have electric hookups. There are plentiful water spigots and a dump station for campers convenience. The campground is provided with contemporary bathrooms and free hot showers. An on-site vending machine adds further ease. The campground offers a number of activities for visitors, including basketball and horseshoe, as well as trails for walking, Jeep, or ATV. Anglers will enjoy the beautiful little pond ready for a catch-and-release fishing adventure. Keep in mind that the rail crossing at the turnoff from Route 2 would mean hearing trains and train horns. Bring your supplies since there arent many shops nearby. Despite the daytime noise, its a quiet spot at night and an all-in-all nice location to spend a couple of days off the beaten path.

From The Campground

Bessey Fish Pond Campground is a great place for fishing enthusiasts. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission regularly stocks the pond with various species of fish. The campground has an accessible pier and a vault toilet. Bessey Fish Pond Campground also offers hiking, nature viewing, OHV riding and camping, and picnicking. From the campground, hike the 3-mile trail to the Scott Lookout Tower, which was renovated in 2011. From the tower, enjoy a 360-degree view of the grasslands and hand-planted forest. The district has approximately 33 miles of motorized trails for vehicles 64 inches wide or less. There is a $5.00 day use fee per vehicle for picnicking. Annual passes cost $20 and can be purchased at the main office. Picnic shelter may be reserved for $25.00 per day at recreation.gov. It has lights, tables, and electrical outlets to accommodate your gatherings.
