Fort Kearny SRA is a great campground with amenities and lots of shade. Half of the campsites are first-come, first-serve, but getting one should not be an issue, especially late at night. Note that you have to pay for a campsite and a motor vehicle permit. The playgrounds are perfect for children and theres a cool free bike rental stand. The area also has trails for hiking, and a bridge nearby where you can view the Sandhill Crane migration. The campground is located about a mile south of I-80 and comes with fire rings and vault toilets.

From The Campground
Fort Kearny State Recreation Area is a year-round recreation area that offers camping, picnic facilities, swimming, and trail rides. The park has two campgrounds, East and West, with a total of 186 campsites. The campsites offer Electric Plus, Electric, and Basic camping options. The park also has day-use facilities that are open year-round and include picnic tables, shelters, grills, drinking water, and playground equipment. Lake 7 offers a designated swimming area with a beach. No lifeguards are on duty. The park also offers trail rides that begin at the Boy Scout campground and travel through the prairie on the north side of the campgrounds and lakes in an approximately 3-mile loop. Trail rides are reservation only.
