GenieSummary

Lakeview Point Campground in Minatare, NE is a great spot for those who love water sports. While it may be a bit odd, its less than 30 minutes from Scottsbluff and an hour away from Agate Fossil Bed National Monument. The campground has asphalt roads and sites, some of which are perpendicular to the road and can be challenging to back into. Some sites have drop-offs outside the asphalt pad, so only stay on the asphalt. The park offers tree-shaded camping sites, and some of them have plenty of space. There are inexpensive laundry machines accessible, too. The bathhouse is showing its age, but the staff were friendly. The campground also has a lovely lighthouse. That said, there are some things to keep in mind—the tree ring near the water is full of mosquitoes. It can get very noisy due to camping parties in the summer. Additionally, the cottonwood trees drop entire portions of branches. Be careful of which tree canopy you settle underneath. The lake level can also be low. Last but not least, dont forget to fill up your water tank at a fill site if youre staying in an electric-only site.

From The Campground

Lake Minatare State Recreation Area offers a variety of camping options, including Electric Plus, Basic, and Primitive campsites throughout several campgrounds. The Lake View and Butte View campgrounds offer 52 and 49 Electric Plus sites respectively, with half of them available for reservation up to one year in advance. Shower facilities and water are available at both the east and west portions of the Lake View Campground, and in the Butte View Campground. The West Wind Campground offers 20 Basic sites, all of which are first-come, first-served, with water and primitive restrooms available. Numerous non-designated Primitive sites are available around the park, including areas at West Wind, South Gate, Lake View, Scout’s Rest, and Butte View. Some beach sites are available, depending upon water level. Picnic shelters may also be rented for activities. An RV Dump and Fill Station is located off Stonegate Road on the western side of Lake Minatare SRA.
