GenieSummary

This campground is situated in the peaceful Nebraska countryside, just off of I80. It is located down a gravel road and is surrounded by a wildlife refuge and acres of corn. The sites are back-in, level and made up of rocks and gravel with plenty of small ant piles. The campground offers a peaceful setting with plenty of opportunities for fishing, wading and boating in the adjacent North Platte River. The park ranger is friendly and knowledgeable and will provide helpful information about the area. There is a $25 per night camping fee, plus a $12 fee per day for out-of-staters. Amenities are limited to several water hydrants and a pit toilet, but for $9 a night you cant complain. The campground is also close to the Golden Spike Railroad viewing tower and is the perfect spot to recuperate after a long day on the road.

From The Campground

Buffalo Bill State Recreation Area offers camping and hiking right next door to the Buffalo Bill State Historical Park, which makes it easy to tour the ranch house and barn that Col. William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody built for his home in North Platte during the heyday of his famous Wild West Show. Guests are encouraged to spend time enjoying the trails and scenery at the recreation area, as well as touring the historic buildings and soaking up the history at the historical park.
