What others are saying about this campground
Lake Ogallala State Recreational Area, East Campground is a good average state park campground located close to I-80 in Nebraska. The campground is situated on the east side of the lake with lovely views of the lake and Kingsley Dam. The roads within the park are asphalt and can be a bit tight for a big rig, but with keen attention can be navigated safely. There is no water or sewer at the site, but the campground has a dump station across Hwy 61 from the campground at Martin Bay on Lake McConaughy, and water available at several locations (including the entrance). The sites are large, flat and with good shade, with fire rings and picnic tables provided at most sites, and there are very large deciduous trees providing fair to good shade. The campground has a playground, but it is dilapidated and consists only of a slide and a swingset. The showers are token operated, and there is a $4 per night per vehicle park fee (annual fee is $15). The campground can get very windy, and there is a strong sulphur odor in the air due to the spray from the outlet which comes from the bottom of the lake behind the dam. There are also lots of flies, and the campground can get very noisy in the summer when the jetskis are more plentiful.
