Captain Critter Country campground is a work-in-progress located off of Highway 26 between Mitchell and Scottsbluff Nebraska. The campground is in need of some TLC, with spray painted tires around saplings and numbers on the electrical boxes. It offers 36 full hook up sites, with pull-through and double-sized lots, as well as WiFi and electric, water, and sewer connections. The campground has a dog park with water bowls and deflated balls, a backyard swing set for kids, and plenty of trees for shade. The campground also advertises a fruit orchard and veggie garden, though the garden is overgrown with weeds and hard to tell if anything is planted. There is a small swimming pool that is beyond repair. The campground is close to downtown Scotts Bluff, and a busy freight train line runs nearby, blowing its horn every 20 minutes. The owner is friendly and accommodating, and is working hard to make the campground a pleasant place to stay.
