From The Campground
Red Cloud Campground is a beautiful campground located in the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands. The campground has 13 sites with picnic tables, parking pads, pedestal grills, fire rings, and a vault toilet. It is situated near the Pine Ridge area and provides easy access to the Pine Ridge Trail system via Outrider and Strong Canyon trailheads. The trail passes through a wide variety of landscapes ranging from grassland, Ponderosa Pine Forest, creek bottoms, canyons and open ridges with views of the nearby buttes. The campground is open year-round and operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fee is $10 per vehicle per night and there is no potable water available on site. Certified noxious weed-free hay/feed is required on national forest lands and motorized vehicles are prohibited on Pine Ridge Trail. Fire rings, grates, and grills are provided for campfires, but visitors are asked not to bring in wood that may be infested by the Emerald Ash Borer. The campground is operated by the Forest Service and is located just one mile south of Chadron State Park on the west side of Highway 385.
