Sac Pass Recreation Area is a beautiful BLM campground located just off Highway 50 and at an elevation of 7000 feet. There are two camping areas: one around a small pond with 5-7 sites, and a second set of 5 or 6 campsites located a half-mile away past an open gate. Each site has a covered picnic table, fire ring, and grill, and there are vault toilets near the entrance. There are also trails for hiking and OHV, as well as a small fishing pond. The campground is free and does not require reservations, although it can get crowded in the summer months. Cell phone service is not available, but the night sky is full of stars to view.
