Ward Mountain Campground is a small and clean campground, conveniently located near Highway 50 in Ely, NV. The campground is well-maintained and the host is friendly. There are 12 gravel sites with fire pits and tables that are quite level and maintained. The campground has new restrooms, grills, and tables along a small creek in narrow canyon with juniper and pine, providing lots of space and a quiet environment. Loop B is far enough from the road to avoid noise from the highway. Although there is no water or hookups, there are great trails for hiking and biking nearby. The ranger trail connects to other campgrounds in Humboldt National Forest and spans more than 60 miles. One downside is that the growth of trees and weeds has led to some overgrowth due to the campground being closed until recently, but there is plenty of shade to enjoy. With high elevation, nights can get chilly even though the days can be warm. Overall, Ward Mountain Campground is a lovely place to spend a few quiet days relaxing.
