What others are saying about this campground
Sportsmans Beach at Walker Lake Recreation Area in Hawthorne, NV is a great place to camp with two areas to choose from, one up higher and one at the lower level within walking distance to the lake. Both locations have plenty of spaces that include fire pits and covered picnic tables. There are bathrooms available at both sites, although the one at the upper location may be locked at times. The campground is situated off the main road, however, there is some road noise especially if you are at the higher site. Also keep in mind that the noise level at the lower site is much better than the upper site. Down by the lake, the wind is a little stronger which can make things a bit colder. There is no signage about camping fees, so make sure to inquire about the cost before camping. Though the area does not have trees, there are some shade structures built in place. If youre looking to take a break from a long road trip, Sportsmans Beach at Walker Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful place to stop by and relax.

From The Campground
The Mill Creek Campground is a fantastic place to stop and have a picnic, talk a walk, listen to the creek or set up camp for a few days. Located roughly 30 miles south of Battle Mountain, Nevada, the Mill Creek Campground strikes a nice balance of being immersed in the outdoors but is close enough to town if you forgot something for the camping trip. The Mill Creek site was originally a CCC camp, Civilian Conservation Corps, which was a public work relief program developed to help with unemployed during the Great Depression. Today, roughly 30,000 people visit the Mill Creek Campground each year to enjoy the natural beauty and proximity to other incredible recreation activities available in northeastern Nevada.
