GenieSummary
Hilltop Campground is a great spot for those looking to escape the heat of Las Vegas. Located outside the city, this campground has smaller sites that are closer together, but still offers plenty of shade from the scrubby pines. It is one of the original campgrounds built by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) and is conveniently located near hiking areas. It is difficult to navigate larger RVs/trailers, but perfect for tents and smaller RVs/trailers. Water is not available, so visitors should bring their own. The campground has fire rings, BBQs, benches, and flat tent spaces, and some sites have views of the canyon below. It is a great spot in the summer and fall and is usually 20 degrees cooler than the valley itself. Reservations can be made online and the camp host is friendly. The bathrooms are locked and there is no water, but it is still a great escape from the Las Vegas heat.
From The Campground
Hilltop Campground is located in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest at an elevation of 8,400 feet.
