Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold, NJ is a great spot to stay along the way. Its affordable, clean, and offers plenty of room between each wooded site. The spacing between sites provides a level of privacy, but you still have the opportunity to see other campers around. The restrooms and showers are large with plenty of usable toilets and showers. Although the cleanliness is average from afar, they are well-ventilated and dont have any bad smells. While some sites offer water that is too far away from the power source, the staff is very helpful and accomodating, helping campers who need to be relocated to a more suitable site. The ranger(s) are friendly and really helpful, making sure everyone has a great experience. The park offers a lake, a couple of trails, and lots of trees perfect for hiking and exploring. Though the roads in the park can be narrow and difficult to navigate with a larger rig, and some guests have noted that there are leaves, branches, and trees everywhere, Turkey Swamp is safe and peaceful for a quiet getaway. Each site has its own trash can and recycle bin, adding to the parks cleanliness. All in all, if you want a low-key and serene camping experience that is not the Rolls-Royce of campgrounds, Turkey Swamp Park is definitely worth a visit.
