Sunset Reef Campground is a great spot for motocamping, located just a few miles away from Carlsbad Caverns National Park. It offers 10 sites for tents, cars, camper vans and RVs, each with a picnic table, BBQ grill, fire pit and trash bin. The sites are close together, but the campground is quiet and peaceful, with little road noise considering how close it is to the highway. There is a vault toilet and trash cans, and the campground is free. It has great views of Guadeloupe Peak and Carlsbad Caverns, and the sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. Cell service and internet access are great for Verizon and T Mobile. The access road can be a bit jostling in 100 psi tires, but it is manageable. It is a great place to stay for exploring Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks.

From The Campground

Sunset Reef Campground is a primitive camping area managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It is located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park and offers 11 developed campsites, including 5 RV spaces and 6 tent sites. Each site has a covered picnic table and grill, and there is a vault toilet on site. Visitors can dry camp in the area for a maximum of five nights for free.
