GenieSummary

Brantley Lake State Park is the perfect spot for a quick overnight stay or a longer stay to explore the nearby attractions. Located 25 minutes from the town of Carlsbad, the park offers a beautiful lake view with stunning sunsets and plenty of wildlife. The sites are back-in, with a covered patio, picnic table and grill, and vary widely in length. It is big rig friendly and the roads are good. The services worked well, although there was an hour-long power outage in the early morning. There are only 3 sites with sewer but they have a dump station. The restrooms are clean but the push button showers are a bit of a hassle. There is a nice playground, walking trails, and a 2 km road to the park gate that is safe for bike riding. Dogs are allowed everywhere but the trails are minimal. The cost is $14/night for 30/W/E. The staff are friendly and the park is well patrolled. Connectivity is good with both ATT and Verizon. There is a faint smell of petroleum from the oilfields across the lake, but it isnt bad. Boats are allowed on the lake, which is currently very low due to the drought. It is a great spot to visit Carlsbad Caverns and other area attractions.
