This campground is a great spot for a peaceful getaway. Located just outside of Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, the campground offers 10 level gravel sites, 5 of which are pull-throughs, 3 are back-ins, and 2 are for tents or small campers. All sites have full hookups, with adequate water pressure and good water quality. The campground is very quiet, with no interstate noise and only the occasional train whistle from ½ mile away. The owners are friendly and the rates are great. The campground is close to the small town of San Antonio, which offers a bar and a general store with expensive gasoline, and the nearby town of Socorro has everything you need. The campground is also close to the Trinity Site, a historic atomic bomb site, and the nearby Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, which offers great hikes and wonderful views. The nearby restaurants The Owl and Buckhorn in San Antonio, NM offer delicious homemade Mexican food. This campground is perfect for an overnight stay or a few days of rest and relaxation.
