From The Campground

El Rito Campground is located near the town of El Rito and is often crowded in summer due to its popularity. The campground is situated along the bank of the El Rito Creek and offers 11 campsites at 7600 feet with excellent hiking and fishing access. The campsites are free and first come, first served. The group shelter can be reserved for a fee on Recreation.gov. The campground has picnic tables and toilets, but no water or restrooms. Take caution! Rapid snowmelt is contributing to the high and fast conditions of El Rito Creek. It is not recommended to enter or attempt crossing. Some sections of road may still be muddy.
