Camping within Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument or on private land surrounding the ruins is not allowed. However, there are several nearby campgrounds available for visitors. Manzano Mountain State Park is the closest public campground to the Monument. The US Forest Service operates 6 campgrounds and many hiking trails in the Manzano Mountains, and one campground in the Gallinas Mountains near Gran Quivira. The nearby campgrounds include Fourth of July, Tajique, Capilla Peak, John F. Kennedy, New Canyon, Red Canyon, Red Cloud, and Trail Ends Motel and Trailer Park. Each campground has its own unique features and amenities, such as full hookups, bathhouses, and varying elevations. Visitors should contact each campground directly for more information.
