GenieSummary

The campground is fairly small and there are no hookups, but there is a dump station and potable water service at the campground exit. Gallo Campground is the perfect spot for a remote camping experience. Located near the north entrance to the Chaco Culture National Historic Park, the campground offers breathtaking views of the sandstone cliffs and canyon. The sites are basic and a mix of tent campers and RVs, with no hookups or electric. There are two bathrooms for the entire campground, which are decently clean but can get cold in the overnight temps. The campground is a dry campground, so make sure to bring plenty of water. There is a dump station and potable water year round. The park has an amazing number of ruins and 20 miles of rough, dirt and washboard roads to the nearest gas station. There are also two hikes nearby, and the park offers guided ranger tours and night sky parties. Be sure to bring a red lens flashlight for dark sky viewing and a vehicle to drive to the visitor center and trail heads. The campground is first come, first served, so a reservation is wise if you want to stay overnight.
