GenieSummary

Bluewater Lake State Park in Prewitt, NM is a well-maintained park with spacious campsites available on a first come, first serve basis. Most sites do not have electrical hookups, making them suitable for dry camping. However, there are a few electric sites available if needed. The park offers a few trails for hiking, and the area has a family-friendly atmosphere. The restrooms on the site are clean and well-maintained, and the park is patrolled by friendly rangers who make the campers feel safe. The views of the lake and surrounding mesas are stunning, with wild horses sometimes wandering around the campsite. Visitors to the park should be aware that there may be horse droppings in or near the campsite and on the trails, and sometimes the wind can become quite strong, which can be challenging for hiking. The lake can be choked with algae seasonally, but it is nice to spend time by the lake when it is clear. Overall, the park is a lovely place to spend a relaxing camping trip.
