Raton Pass Camp and Cafe is a private campground located at the top of Raton Pass, just off I-25. The campground offers full hookup sites, pull throughs, and back-in sites, all with level gravel surfaces and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and mesas. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the park is well maintained and clean. Amenities include electric, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi, although cell service and OTA TV are nonexistent. There is also a picnic area and a large dog walking area. The park is known for its security, as there have been no thefts in 22 plus years. However, the owners can be rude and act like they are doing you a favor by letting you stay. Be aware that the exit off of I-25 is difficult to find due to roadwork and that the water pressure is low. This is a great place to stay for an overnight or for a few days to acclimate to the high altitude before venturing into Colorado.
