Located in the stunning Rio Grande Gorge, this BLM campground offers a unique camping experience. With several small camp loops along the river, you can find a campsite to fit your needs. Primitive camping is available, with no water access or power, but there are showers and potable water at the second camp loop on the road. Orilla Verde Recreation Area is a beautiful semi-arid campground located along the Rio Grande in Embudo, New Mexico. The campground is known for its diversity of plant life and attracts many species of animals, including raptors, songbirds, waterfowl, beaver, cougar, ringtail, mule deer, and more. The area is also rich in history, with evidence of ancient peoples found throughout the Recreation Area in the form of petroglyphs on the rocks and many other types of archaeological sites. The campground offers seven campgrounds, boat launches, picnic tables, grills, drinking water, and restrooms. Four of the campgrounds also have drinking water and shelters available. Pilar Campground and Río Bravo Campground both have RV sites with water and electric hookup (no sewer).
