From The Campground

Terrero campground is a North-central New Mexico Department of Game and Fish campground located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It offers 10 campsites with a fee of $5.00 for five days or $15 for a year. Camping is free for those with a current hunting or fishing license. The campground is open from April 01 to November 30 and is dog-friendly. It has almost no services, but it does have trash cans and vault toilets. The campground is right on the banks of the Pecos river, making it an ideal spot for fishing enthusiasts. Across the river is the Terrero General Store which offers showers for $5.00. The road to the campground from Pecos is narrow and has many sharp turns, so expect to take at least half an hour to get there.
