GenieSummary

This campground is located on old Route 66, close to I-40 and a short drive from downtown Albuquerque. It is a convenient spot for an overnight stay, but is nothing to write home about. The park has allowed older full time rigs to stay, giving it a rag tag look. The pull through sites are long enough for a 38 ft fifth wheel and tow vehicle, but the spots are cluttered and ill-kempt, and some slides almost touch those of neighbors. The roads leading to the campsites are in need of repaving and show signs of long-term erosion. There is no grass and not much shade, but the view of the mountains is beautiful and the area is quiet and secluded. Wi-Fi is advertised as free, but is weak and unreliable. The owner threatened to call a tow truck to tow out rigs if people were late in paying for extra days. People do not pick up after their dogs and they frequently run loose. The forest behind the park has been slash cut and large areas were burned, and the sheriffs car patrols through the park several nights a week. The laundry room is clean and neat, and the restrooms and showers are new and have plenty of hot water and pressure. There is an extra fee for small dogs, even though owners are diligent in picking up after them. The only problem with this stay is that it was in the winter, and the barking dogs in the adjacent mobile home park made it difficult to sleep in the mornings.
