1000 Islands Campground is a no fuss and well-run campground that provides plenty of options to campers of all types. The campground is situated in Alexandria Bay, NY and is conveniently located near many attractions in the region. While the roads within the campground are slightly narrow, it is not usually a problem unless it is a crowded holiday weekend. Even then, the campground remains very safe, and the owners are visible, advising, supervising, and cleaning throughout the stay. Most of the sites are gravel with a nice picnic table and fire ring. The sites are mostly open to the sky with scattered trees and are slightly closer than some may prefer but not uncomfortably so. The utilities for some sites may be located in the rear, so two water hoses may be needed. Overall, the campground is kept spotless with clean bathrooms and showers that are well-maintained. There are several hosts available, so help is always within reach. While some campers may be disappointed by the relatively smaller sites and fewer amenities, the campground provides a great base for exploring the region, with easy access to I-81.
