What others are saying about this campground
East Caroga Lake campground is a great state campground located right on the lake. It is perfect for families looking for a lively atmosphere and activities for children. The campsites are spacious and accommodate up to two tents, and there is room for two dogs to run around. The bathrooms and showers are typical of other campgrounds and are regularly cleaned, and the hot water is great after a long day. There is a store just outside the entrance that sells ice, wood, and groceries. The fire pit does not have a narrow grilling grate, so bringing something to ensure your food wont fall through the widely spaced bars is helpful. The beach area offers a great view, but it can be noisy. There is a rodeo nearby that can be loud on Friday nights and goes late. There is no service, so Verizon and T-Mobile are not available. The campground is not suitable for larger RVs due to the tight roads. There are no hikes connecting to the campsite, but there are plenty of nearby hikes.

From The Campground

Caroga Lake Campground & Day Use Area is a historic campground located in Caroga Lake, NY. The campground was developed by Conservation Department personnel in 1927 and opened to the public just after the Fourth of July in 1929. The campground has camping and picnicking facilities for 1,000 persons and approximately 100 camping sites. The present sea wall was installed in 1929-31 to clear the stones from the shoreline and the area behind it filled with gravel to make the present picnic area. The camping area loops were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933, thereby freeing the waterfront area for the present swimming and picnic area and increasing the campground capacity. The campground offers a par-70, 18 hole municipal golf course located just 2 miles north of the campground. Other attractions within a one hour drive of the campground are: Sharon Springs, Saratoga Springs, Howe Caverns, the Farmers' Museum and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
