What others are saying about this campground
Hamlin Beach is a beautiful campground located between Buffalo/Niagara Falls and Rochester on Lake Ontario. It features a well groomed sandy white beach with certified lifeguards, as well as a huge salmon run in the fall where fish up to 30 lbs are caught regularly. The park itself is small, with swimming and picnic areas, but there is plenty to do nearby such as wineries, Shakespeare Festival, and Jell-o Museum. The camp sites are spacious and offer some seclusion, with electric only hookups and a 100’ hose to reach a spigot from most any spot. There is a nature trail through the woods opposite the lake, as well as a rocky area where dogs can play in the water. The beach is a short hike or bike ride away, and sunsets can be seen from the campsites. RVs should be aware of the low bridges between Rochester and the park on the Parkway. The campground offers a typical state park experience with clean sites, lots of trees, and a store near loop C. Hot water is spotty and shower stalls are cramped, and access paths to the restrooms are not well designed. The dump stations are easily navigated, allowing turnarounds to approach the dump station at the right angle.

From The Campground
Hamlin Beach State Park is a premier spot for observing migrating waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds. It has been named an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. The park holds a rare erosional bluff ecological community, which is one of only three in New York State. Erosional bluffs are the sandy, sparsely vegetated slopes facing Lake Ontario on the west end of the park. They support populations of beach grass, seaside goldenrod, and bayberry. In addition, Hamlin Beach State Park is a migration route for rare bird species like the least bittern. Visitors are encouraged to be stewards of the park and respect the rules and concerns for the area they'll be visiting.
