Southwick Beach State Park is a fantastic camping location on the shoreline of Lake Ontario just south of Watertown, NY. The park features a huge 3000+ foot beach area that recently added a newly renovated pavilion and store providing all necessary supplies for a day at the beach. The park has updated its facilities by adding a new full hook-up camping loop and at the same time keeping true to its roots, providing plenty of primitive sites alongside the shoreline. A smaller, quieter loop offers more shade for those seeking shelter from the sun. The restroom/shower facilities are well maintained, but some have reported issues with standing water due to problems with mat drainage. The water fill stations may prove frustrating for those without a backflow preventer. The park does offer some marked trails, however, some have become overgrown and difficult to navigate. Overall, Southwick Beach State Park is an ideal destination for anyone looking for great beach camping.

Westcott Beach State Park is a beautiful campground located in New York. The park offers campsites, cabins, and lodging options for visitors. Amenities include fishing, hiking, hunting, pavilions and shelter rentals, playgrounds, playing fields, showers, snowshoeing/X-Country skiing, and a swimming beach. Hunting permits are required and can be obtained from the park office during business hours. Firewood source maps are available to show a 50-mile radius from which untreated firewood may be moved to the campground. For more information, please see firewood restrictions.
