From The Campground
Devil's Tombstone Campground & Day Use Area is located in the Catskill Mountains in a rugged mountain pass called Stony Clove. The campground is known for its historic interest, as it is rumored to have been a favorite haunt of the Devil during the early days of settlement in the Catskills. The campground features the Devil's Tombstone, a large boulder that was probably carried down the mountain many centuries ago by a landslide or glacier. Devil's Tombstone also offers a Junior Naturalist Program for young children and their families, as well as ethnic festivals throughout the summer season. Local villages provide restaurants, shops, antique shops, and a movie theater. Tubing, paintball, go-carts, miniature golf, and a number of golf courses and horseback riding facilities are located within easy driving distance.
